United Slates is a family owned and operated business established in 2013, with a head office based in the Lake District and regional office in London. Despite only officially forming in 2013, United Slates has 25 years of slate and stone experience at it’s helm in Mark Nicholson, United Slates Managing Director. Mark acquired David Wallace International Limited in 2000 and traded slates from global quarries including the UK, North America,Spain,Brasil and China under the successful Wallace Slate UK name. Wallace Slate UK supplied numerous, prestigious projects with the unique, American Vermont Structural slate and continues to thrive to this day under the UK Slate Ltd banner. In 2013, United Slates came to fruition as the decision was made to dedicate efforts to focus on the distribution of fine, American slate products. The Nicholson family has a close working relationship and friendship with the Markcrow family of Vermont Structural slate quarry. Established in 1859, Vermont Structural quarries and fabricates top-quality natural Vermont slates, producing all types of architectural, flooring and roofing slate products.
