Fall Favourites: United Slates visits Vermont Quarry

United Slates recently visited The Vermont Structural Slate Company quarries in Fairhaven, Vermont during ‘The Fall’. Vermont is world-famous for it’s beautiful, autumnal foliage which alights the natural landscape with shades of red, orange and gold. The exact timing of the peak of The Fall is impossible to predict exactly, similarly to the colour of our Vermont slate, the timing of the Vermont Fall depends on temperature, sunlight, and rainfall amounts. Beneath the trees and stunning landscape into the ground, the colour and mottled pattern of the Eureka slate portrays the patterns of Vermont’s weather systems and metamorphic movements, making each Vermont slate similarly to each Fall, unique.

We had a interesting time with The Vermont Structural Slate Co. learning about new projects such as Yale University with the U.S. Sales Department and understanding operation status in Production. Mark of United Slates spent time with Vic of Vermont Structural Slate Production in the finishing shed,  Vic was examining the quality of our next stock order of 20-12″ Random Diminishing Mottled Green-Purple. General Quarry Manager Doug Sheldon explained that the stone coming from the Eureka vein was particularly good at the moment, however the yield of Mottled was a little low.

If you are travelling to the United States and are interested in visiting the quarry either in Vermont or Virginia,  please contact us and we will make the appropriate arrangements.
